Who's Who?

Revd. Frany Long is married with three grown up children. She was ordained in 2001 and served as a Non-Stipendiary Curate (part time) for four years at St Mary’s, Caterham before transferring to being a Full Time Curate and moving to St. James, Riddlesdown. She was licensed as Priest in Charge of St Mark’s, Woodcote and St. Swithun’s Purley in February 2008. With two churches to cover she tries to work on the basis of being at St. Mark’s on alternate Sundays, however, because of special events, this does not always work. This then is her first post in charge and whilst it is challenging she is fortunate to be surrounded by a group of loyal and committed people who support her in the many complexities of ministry.

From an early age she was brought up in the United Reform Church; however she did not find her own faith until some twenty years ago when she was confirmed in the Anglican Church. It may be because of this that she is very aware of the barriers and presumptions made by the church and her overriding goal is to facilitate worship so that people feel welcome and able to come and discover God for themselves.

Please pray for St Mark’s Church during this its Centenary Year.
