25th Purley (St. Mark's) Scout Group
History
The 25th Purley (St. Mark’s) Scout Group was first registered with the Scout Association on the 1st December 1951 and has been providing Scouting for the local community, based at St. Mark’s Church, ever since. In 2003 the Group welcomed its first two girls into Cubs and we now have girls in each of our 3 sections.
Activities
At the 25th Purley we provide a wide range of adventurous activities, such as canoeing, climbing, rafting, flying and camping, as well as an exciting programme of weekly meetings.
Our activities are designed to allow young people to grow and develop into responsible and self-reliant adults.
Membership
Membership is open to all young people aged from 6 to 18 of every faith and background including special needs.
Adult Leadership
Our leaders are all volunteers, and are fully trained to make Scouting fun, exciting and challenging, but also safe.
We are proud of our reputation for delivering first class Scouting with excellent equipment and resources and led by inspirational Leaders of exceptional ability and commitment.
We believe in forming a close and effective partnership with all our parents and encourage them to be actively involved with the group. We rely on our parents to offer their practical help and support to the Scout Group; to support our Sponsor, St. Mark’s Church (which provides us with our meeting hall) and to take part in the special occasions in the life of the Group.

Volunteering
If you are interested in joining one of our leader teams at the 25th Purley or are able to offer us some time helping us in a support role to manage what is a large Scout Group, please contact us. We need larger leader teams in all our Sections to manage our meetings, activities and camps and a bigger support team to manage such things as fundraising, administration, finance, maintenance, our equipment stores, and health and safety.
