Lent


The season of Lent is a time of solemn reflection and self-denial

Lent starts on Ash Wednesday.

The church wll be undecorated and dressed in purple during the season, which ends on Good Friday (29th March).

Lent is the period of 40 days which comes before Easter in the Christian calendar. Beginning on Ash Wednesday, Lent is a season of reflection and preparation before the celebrations of Easter. By observing the 40 days of Lent, Christians replicate Jesus Christ's sacrifice and withdrawal into the desert for 40 days. Lent is marked by fasting, both from food and festivities.

Services:

Sundays in Lent: In addition to our normal services Stations of the Cross will be held at 4.00 pm.

Palm Sunday 24th March: Eucharist at 9.15 am with procession of palms and Passion narrative. Craft afternooon for 5-12 year olds.

Maundy Thursday 28th March: Eucharist at 8.00 pm followed by vigil until midnight.

Good Friday 29th March: Liturgy at 1.00 pm. A solemn service of readings and meditation.

Easter Day 31st March: Celebration eucharist at 9.15 am.
